Parag Agrawal, who was named to succeed Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey on Monday, has the same age as Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta Platform Inc.
Parag Agrawal, the new CEO of Twitter Inc., is now the youngest CEO in the S& P 500, but only by a hair.
Agrawal, who was named to succeed Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey on Monday, is 37 years old, making him the same age as Meta Platform Inc.
Mark Zuckerberg is the company’s CEO. Twitter wouldn’t provide Agrawal’s date of birth due to security concerns but acknowledged he was born later in 1984 than Zuckerberg’s May 14 birthday.
Dorsey was one of the dozen youngest CEOs in the collection of the largest U.S. corporations at the age of 45.
“I don’t believe that age is a significant factor, especially in a company like this. It could be beneficial. “CEO performance is studied by David Larcker, a professor at Stanford Graduate School of Business.
“The fact that Dorsey is standing down from the board, indicating that he isn’t going to be a shadow CEO, shows that he has a lot of faith in him.”
According to data provided by Bloomberg, Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., is the oldest CEO in the S& P 500 at 91 years old. According to the research, the average age of a CEO among the 500 largest corporations was around 58 years. However, the overall trend in CEO age does not favour youth.
Executive recruiter Spencer Stuart’s data on S&P 500 firms over the last two decades reveals a tiny but continuous increase in the age of the CEO.
In 2011, Agrawal became a Twitter user. Dorsey will remain on Twitter’s board of directors until his term ends in 2022, according to a statement released Monday.
Agrawal will also be joining the board of directors, where he will be a statistical outlier. According to Spencer Stuart, the average age of an S&P 500 director is 63.
