The federal minister liable for Service Canada, Karina Gould, says Islanders will shortly be able to access an expedited passport application procedure, and plans are in the works to open a full-service passport office on P.E.I.
“It could be a couple of years still because we are going through and kind of doing a check of all passport services across the nation,” she said.
In the meantime, she said Islanders could access expedited passport service within weeks.

“What we’re going to be driving towards in the next couple of weeks, certainly by the end of the summer, is that Islanders will be able not just to make the application but go pick up their passport within ten business days at the Service Canada center in Charlottetown,” she said.
Gould initially told C.B.C. in July that a statement regarding opening a passport office on the Island was open.
