The Teacher’s Federation asks for the extension of school shutdowns:
The Prince Edward Island Teachers’ Federation is insisting the region postpone a return to in-person education another week.
In a report issued Monday, the federation stated it’s worried about how secure and tolerable a return to the classroom would be amid the fast spread of Omicron variant COVID-19 cases in the region.
Schools will be shut till at least Jan. 10 as COVID-19 cases increase exponentially in P.E.I. Classes will push back online beginning Wednesday, Jan. 5.

The PEITF stated it has requested the government and the Chief Public Health Office to stop the anticipated reopening till at least Jan. 17, and that any judgment to do so is re-evaluated ere that date.
